    Global Day of Prayer

    Gather locally. Pray Globally.

You are invited to participate in the Global Day of Prayer.

This Pentecost Sunday May 27, Christians in almost every country of the world will be assembling for a special day of repentance and prayer. We’ll be seeking God to bless our cities and our countries by His transforming power for the glory of Christ.

Join with millions of others across the face of the earth.  In our community we will be gathering at 7:00 PM here at John Knox Presbyterian.  Come join Transform Burien as we focus our eyes on Jesus, confess our purpose in Him, pray for the church and our world.

Annual Congregational Meeting followed by a Town Hall Meeting

John Knox Presbyterian Church will hold its annual congregational meeting on Sunday June 10 from 6:30-7:00pm for the following stated purposes: To elect individuals as Elders to the Session, to elect individuals as Deacons to the Board of Deacons and to elect individuals to the Congregational Nominating Committee. This business alone may constitute the business of the meeting, and no other business may come up. Only those on the active membership role of the church may vote in this meeting, but it is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend. Biographical sketches and testimonies of all individuals to be put forth by the Congregational Nominating Committee for the above entities will be available next week, May 27.

The Town Hall meeting will take place from 7:00-8:00pm where the ad hoc discernment team and Pastor Robert will present information regarding the upcoming General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA; and the future of the denomination, the Presbytery of Seattle and JKPC.

    Men's Softball Team Forming

"Spring is here and it's time to start thinking about softball season! Church softball starts the first week of June and runs through the first week of August. If you’ve played baseball or softball or are athletic and have an interest in participating (provided we actually get some decent weather), please let Peter Watson know! This is also a great outreach opportunity to invite your friends to get involved in a church activity that involves sunshine, softball and building meaningful relationships!

If you are interested in playing softball, please contact Peter Watson and he'll will be happy to get you locked into the existing team."

From the Pastor Nominating Commitee (PNC)

The PNC was convened last fall and has been meeting weekly since October 2011.  The congregational committee is following the standard deliberative search process (described as "Picking a Pastor the Presbyterian Way" by one author) which typically takes one to two years.  Information about the search process/progress can be found on the PNC website at "www.jkpnc.com" which is also accessible through the JKPC website.  Those who do not have computer access can obtain printed copies of the PNC website information from the Welcome Center.

Thanks for your continued prayers for discernment at every step of the way during this time.
