Acts for Everyone
“Luke, whose first volume we know as the gospel which bears his name, is telling us with his opening sentence one of the most important things about the whole book. It is all about what Jesus is continuing to do and teach … We call it ‘The Acts of the Apostles’, but in truth we should really think of it as ‘The Acts of Jesus (Part II)’.” N.T. Wright, Acts for Everyone.
As the community of John Knox engages in a time of pastoral transition, the Book of Acts provides a terrific text for reflecting on how Jesus worked in the early Church to redeem and transform humanity and human history, and how, by the same Spirit, we might likewise “serve God’s purpose in our own generation” (Acts 13:36). Come and join us, even if you have never been before, as we journey through the text in thoughtful reading, reflection and conversation each Sunday morning.
