Rev. Ronald D. Oldenkamp - Associate Pastor
Ron was raised in a Christian home in Thousand Oaks, CA. A third generation and life-long Presbyterian, he attended Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. As a junior in High School, he knew he needed to grow his childhood faith in Christ and acknowledge Jesus as his own Lord and Savior, doing so at a Christian concert.
Ron attended Whitworth University, graduating cum laude, with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. He then headed east to Princeton Theological Seminary, majoring in New Testament Studies. During seminary, Ron spent two summers as an Intern at University Place Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, WA. He met Nancy, who was to become his wife, while she was on staff at Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian Church in Puyallup, WA. Together they staffed an Olympia Presbytery mission trip to Southeast Alaska.
The next year, in the span of some six weeks, he graduated from seminary, married Nancy, and candidated (preached) for his first call. Their honeymoon lasted three months because they were essentially homeless, traveling and camping across the West until Ron’s new pastorate began.
Ron has over twenty years experience as an Associate Pastor or an Interim Associate Pastor. His last position was in Roseville, California.
He has a heart for missions, whether local, national or global, and he loves to teach. He feels gifted by God for problem-solving and overall administration of ministries.
Ron likes to spend his leisure time with his wife and playing in the outdoors. He enjoys camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, reading and listening to music. He likes traveling and exploring new places.
He is excited to be called by God to serve again in the Northwest, and in particular here at John Knox.
