WorshipWorship is the core of who we are as a community. We give back to God what He has given us; our very lives. “I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1) Being that we are a “worshipping community launching people into ministry and mission”, worship at John Knox Presbyterian Church is naturally in collaboration with all ministries of the Church. Through the worship of the living God, we are striving to bring the good news of the gospel to Normandy Park, Seattle, and the world.
Music
Worship Band
The worship Band leads worship during all of our Sunday morning services. Stylistically, the band plays a wide variety of music including traditional hymns and contemporary songs. While embracing the rich tradition of music in the Church’s history, we long to engage today’s culture with a new song. This is an auditioned group, but we are always on the lookout
for new people.
Selah Choir
Selah is a Hebrew word found throughout the Psalms. It's an instructional word
given to those singing or reciting and has several interconnected meanings...
- to lift up and exalt
- to pray
- to give a lasting message
- to pause
As a choir, we exist to lead others into worship, prayer, the hope of eternity
and to invite all to pause and wonder at the glory of God. We rehearse in the
Chapel on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM during Advent and Lent.
Liturgical Arts
Art is a powerful medium through which we can understand truth. We currently use both video and visual art as a way to deepen our worship experience. Drama and Dance are also an integral part of who we are as a worshipping community.
