Brian Moss, Director of Worship, Music and the Arts

Music and Faith are inseparable to me. I moved to Seattle in August of 2000 knowing that there is no better place for music and faith to connect than in the Church. Being a part of the leadership at John Knox Presbyterian Church has been a tremendous blessing and has continuously led me to a deeper place of worshiping the Living God.

I grew up on a small farm in northwest Iowa. Our family attended church every week and I was taught to sing many of the Reformed hymns that we still sing today. I began playing the piano at the age of six. In high school I started writing my own songs and singing them in church. From that point on I have never stopped being involved with the music of the church.

I moved to Nashville in 1995 to study music at Belmont University. It was during this time that my appreciation for hymns was rekindled through Kevin Twit and the college ministry at Christ Community Church. I was able to contribute to a recording of hymns called “Indelible Grace” with my arrangement of “The Church’s One Foundation”. I was able to work with many great artists and toured with Michael Card from 1998-2000. I have recorded two independent CDs of my own, “ninety-nine” and “After The Shadows, Light”.

My wife Stephanie and I have four children, Haley, Levi, Ethan and Isaac. We are excited to be a part of the community here at John Knox Presbyterian Church and look forward to what God has in store for all of us.
