Rev. Dr. Bryan Burton, the senior pastor at John Knox, arrived in January of 1998. He is committed to a life and ministry for the whole people of God that is biblically and theologically faithful to Jesus Christ while speaking to the realities of today’s world, all within the context of the Presbyterian and Reformed tradition. Bryan believes every Christian and every church is called to the following way of life:
Christian worship that acknowledges God’s power and presence. Christian belonging to Christ and to Christ’s body, the church. Christian discipleship which leads us individually and corporately to become more like Jesus. Christian ministry that acknowledges that the Spirit of God has given every believer gifts and abilities in order to minister Christ to one another in the church and represent Christ to the world. Christian mission which calls God’s people to live in the world in such a way as to represent Christ in word and deed in ways that are both faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and relevant to today’s world. This call is local, national and global.
As Senior Pastor/Head of Staff, Bryan is committed to building a staff team that will both model and enable this kind of ministry to flourish.
Bryan is married to Caroline and they have two children, Mark and Claire. Bryan is also an adjunct professor for Fuller Theological Seminary and Regent College in Vancouver, B.C.
