LIFE and CARE MINISTRIES: Connecting people to Jesus, to each other and the world.
For the first two hundred years the church was based in the homes of believers. Through study, prayer, and fellowship these mini-Christian communities cared for each other and those in their congregation. They also made and strengthened disciples of Christ. (Acts 2: 44-47, 20:20).
Jesus did not leave us explicit details regarding church structure or the ways in which we should care for one another, but clearly did emphasize the necessity of intimate caring relationships and unity of purpose. His commands call for intimate day-to-day contact and sharing. Jesus draws us together in himself. He creates Christian community (John 15: 12-14, Acts 17:28a).
